A 8x8 Case Study
Union School District, a San Jose district of eight schools serving about 5,800 students, faced a critical communications problem when its legacy phone system failed regularly and the COVID‑19 shutdown forced an overnight shift to distance learning. The district needed a way for teachers, therapists and staff to stay reachable from home without handing out personal cell numbers and while preserving familiar call routing.
They moved to 8x8 X Series and rolled out the 8x8 Work App, keeping the district’s single main number and extension dialing while enabling staff to take extensions on phones and laptops. Caller ID masking, automated attendant scheduling and cloud reliability let roughly 480 teachers and staff across nine locations work remotely with uninterrupted communications, yielding a seamless transition and continuous support for students.
