Live Oak Bank is a nationwide, branchless lender and one of the most active U.S. Small Business Administration lenders, having originated over 7,100 loans totaling $9 billion since 2008. As a branchless bank headquartered in Wilmington, NC, Live Oak needed to create branch-like virtual experiences for customers and ensure continuity and security of service even during extreme events like Hurricane Florence.

Live Oak adopted a cloud-first strategy with 8x8 X Series, integrating unified communications, contact center capabilities and Salesforce while adding multifactor authentication for security, so employees could act as mobile branches. When Hurricane Florence struck, more than 300 staff relocated across six states and — with no lost calls — the bank approved $94 million in new loans, closed $39 million, handled 700 customer calls and 360 support tickets, validating the cloud-based solution.
