A 8x8 Case Study
MHM Services, Inc., a healthcare provider to correctional facilities with 20 regional offices and more than 3,000 staff, was struggling with individual premises-based PBXs: costly hardware maintenance, perpetual licensing and long-distance/toll charges, plus the need for HIPAA-secure messaging. The company needed a scalable, cloud-based phone system that could be deployed quickly and meet strict security and operational constraints (including a one-weekend cutover at seven prisons where cell phones are prohibited).
With CDW’s help MHM chose 8x8 Virtual Office — a cloud, HIPAA-compliant UCaaS with softphones, training resources, mobile apps and call queues. The solution enabled a rapid weekend rollout (technicians used laptops to call and IM on-site), removed PBX hardware, improved help-desk responsiveness and video collaboration, and has been expanded across the organization (43 lines live to date with about 252 expected), delivering a lower‑maintenance, scalable communications platform.
