Friction-free calls via Teams delight BDO knowledge workers

BDO LLP, the UK member firm of BDO with 6,500 people across 18 offices, was pursuing a cloud-first digital transformation and piloting Microsoft Teams to enable activity-based, flexible working. When the pandemic moved staff out of offices, calls were missed, voicemails rose and mobile bills spiked, so BDO sought a cloud telephony solution that would tightly integrate with Microsoft and deliver high-quality global calling.

Working with partner EveryCloud, BDO implemented 8x8 Experience Communications (including 8x8 Voice for Microsoft Teams), allowing staff to make and receive calls directly within the Teams interface with no extra training; the rollout covers about 98% of UK roles and supports some 5.5 million Teams activities per month. The deployment cut mobile costs, gave contact desks live call analytics, and enabled a cultural shift to frictionless, flexible working that helps attract and retain talent.
