Kalix, founded in 2012, is a SaaS practice‑management platform for nutritionists, dieticians and other healthcare consultants used by 1,000+ practitioners and 400,000+ patients. Its client portal required integrated chat and video conferencing, but self‑hosting Jitsi—and later a different provider—consumed too much developer time, lacked advanced analytics and support, and couldn’t easily add features or meet growing HIPAA compliance needs.
