Otto’s Bierhalle - Customer Case Study

Otto’s Toronto Restaurants — the team behind Otto’s Berlin Döner and Otto’s Bierhalle — built a modern, German-inspired dining concept in Toronto but struggled with inefficient scheduling. Early on they relied on fragile Excel sheets and a limited POS scheduler, which led to broken formulas, scattered staff requests (texts, emails, calls) and high labor costs (around 30–35%), plus time-consuming manual follow-up.

After switching to 7shifts (with 7punches time-clocking) they used the weekly budget tool, variance and attendance reports, schedule replication and in-app messaging to streamline operations. The changes cut labor by about 5 percentage points (to 25–30%), drastically reduced scheduling time (Berlin Döner scheduling now takes 20 minutes; Bierhalle 1–2 hours/week), improved transparency and communication, and gave the owners capacity to consider further expansion.
