Johnny Reb’s is a long‑standing Southern barbecue restaurant founded in Long Beach in 1984 that has grown to three Southern California locations through word of mouth and strong service culture. Their scheduling process relied on an outdated program (Schedule Writer) that printed static schedules with no employee access or change tracking, creating communication gaps, no accountability for missed shifts, and a pressing need for a modern scheduling solution after the old vendor folded.

After researching dozens of options, operations director Moe Rahman implemented 7shifts in September 2016 with hands‑on support from a dedicated product specialist. The mobile schedule, push notifications, group messaging, blocked days and integrated availability features tightened communication and visibility across all stores, enabled better advance scheduling and labor planning, and helped reduce labor from roughly 30–32% to 24–28% (about a 5% average labor cost savings).
