A 7shifts Case Study
Kaldi’s Coffee is a 27-year-old café chain with 12–13 locations and 150+ team members across St. Louis and Atlanta. As the company scaled, leaders needed a simple, fast-to-teach scheduling tool that could control labor costs, track training hours, centralize communication, and preserve operational records—challenges that intensified during store closures in 2020.
Kaldi’s adopted 7shifts to use sales-per-labor-hour, projections, roles, a shift pool, announcements, and a twice-daily manager logbook. The platform helped keep labor at 20–26% of sales, maintain $43–55 sales per labor hour, reduce labor cost by about 4%, support daily company-wide communication (300+ announcements/year), streamline shift coverage and internal hiring, and generate robust operational records.
