A Zyxel Case Study
Kiev Metro, Ukraine’s busy capital transit system serving more than a million riders a day, wanted to improve passenger wayfinding with a virtual guidance system that could show station information, estimated travel times, and train locations. To support this, the metro needed durable networking hardware that could run nonstop in subway conditions, withstand temperature swings and heavy vibrations, and be easy to manage at scale. Zyxel provided its GS1900 Series 10-port gigabit smart managed switches to meet those requirements.
Zyxel’s switching solution, centered on the GS1900-10HP, delivered reliable connectivity, browser-based setup, and centralized control through Zyxel ONE Network. The rollout was planned by Trans-Media and is expected to reach 500 switches across the trains, giving the metro a resilient platform for its new real-time ETA and passenger information system. The result is a smarter rider experience that keeps passengers informed about schedule changes, current train location, remaining stations, and total travel time.
