ZyXEL Helps University Library Step Up to 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Reduced Management Overhead

National Chiao Tung University’s Hao-Ran Library & Information Center needed to replace an outdated wireless network that struggled with weak bandwidth, unstable connections, and signal interference across its large nine-story building. To support more than 18,000 students, faculty, staff, and public users, the university turned to Zyxel for a future-proof Wi‑Fi upgrade, including 802.11ac access points, a wireless LAN controller, a security gateway, and PoE switching.

Zyxel designed and deployed a scalable wireless solution centered on WAC6503D-S 802.11ac access points, NXC5500 wireless LAN control, and USG1900 security, integrating with the library’s existing guest login system and improving coverage across multiple floors. The result was seamless connectivity, stronger security, less IT management overhead, and support for up to 1,000 concurrent users, with the entire project completed in about one month and no disruption to existing connectivity during installation.
