ZyXEL GEPON Solution Offers an Advanced and Future Proof Network for IASR, India

The Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASR), part of ICAR in India, needed a faster, more cost-effective network to support more than 1,000 users across multiple departments and buildings. Its existing 100 Mbps infrastructure could not keep up with massive data transfers or the need for penta-play services such as voice, video, surveillance, and data. Zyxel proposed a GEPON-based solution using the OLT-1308S-22, ONU-6100B, and ONU-6040BF.

Zyxel implemented a scalable fiber network centered on the OLT-1308S-22 with ONUs deployed through splitters, delivering Gigabit connectivity, better security, and fail-free service with redundant paths. The new setup reduced cabling costs, improved bandwidth and flexibility, and prepared IASR for future growth and multi-service delivery. After the deployment, ICAR also extended the network with Zyxel x6004 PBX for voice services on the passive optical network.
