World’s Second Largest Egyptian Museum Receives ZyXEL Wireless Solution

The Egyptian Museum of Turin, one of the world’s largest Egyptian museums, needed to deliver reliable wireless connectivity throughout its nearly 300-year-old historic building while preserving the museum’s aesthetics. Zyxel was brought in to support visitor-facing multimedia apps, Google Glass support for hearing-impaired guests, internal VoIP, and cabinet alarms, all over a secure, hidden wireless infrastructure.

Zyxel implemented a WLAN solution built around a NXC5500 Wireless LAN Controller, WAC6502D-E and NWA5123-NI access points, GS2210 PoE switches, and a USG1900 security gateway. The deployment provided full coverage, centralized management, and a future-proof foundation for upcoming upgrades, while replacing outdated audio-guide technology and improving the visitor experience for more than 550,000 annual guests, including new accessibility support for hearing-impaired visitors.
