Tunnel Project in Swiss Alps Gets Connected with ZyXEL Solution

Albula Tunnel, the Swiss Alps rail project, needed a secure and stable network for its construction village, where more than 80 workers lived and worked onsite. Zyxel provided a solution built around wireless access points, a wireless LAN controller, a unified access gateway, and next-generation security gateways to support wired and wireless connectivity in a harsh tunnel-construction environment.

Zyxel implemented a network connected to the local fiber line and segmented it into seven VLANs to separate VoIP, staff, guest, and regular traffic. Using Zyxel USG110 gateways, an NXC2500 controller, a UAG2100 gateway, and WAC6502D-S smart antenna access points, the project delivered high-speed fiber access, easier administration and authentication, and stronger wireless coverage and performance for multiple users.
