Netto, the Danish discount grocery chain, needed a secure and scalable network to support its rapidly expanding store base and growing use of IP-connected systems such as tills, bottle-return machines, refrigeration, and payment card readers. To improve security and manage a more digital retail environment, Netto turned to Zyxel and its Layer 3+ switch technology.

Zyxel implemented more than 700 ES-4124 Layer 3+ switches across Netto stores in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and Poland, with network management handled centrally through NetAtlas Enterprise. The solution separated store traffic into virtual networks for better security, supported policy-based access control and intrusion detection, and was deployed smoothly with no reported errors; Netto also noted the switches cost about one-third of a comparable alternative.
