Lindner Hotels Tunes into the Latest TV Technologies with Zyxel Solution

Lindner Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality group behind the Lindner Congress Hotel in Düsseldorf, needed a new network to support an IPTV system across about 240 guest rooms. The challenge was to distribute TV programming over existing LAN connections while handling large data volumes efficiently and reducing channel switch-over times. Zyxel provided the networking foundation, including L3 and L2+ switches and a VPN firewall.

Zyxel’s solution used an XGS4728F 24-port GbE L3 switch with 10 GbE uplink as the IGMP routing switch, supported by XS3700 and XGS3700 switches plus a ZyWALL 310 firewall. This setup enabled efficient multicast routing, stable and secure IPTV distribution to multiple rooms, and easier management of converging traffic across the hotel. The result was a scalable, business-critical network that met the hotel’s expectations and could be extended as demand grows.
