A Zyxel Case Study
DynaTek Media, a full-service digital signage company, needed a way to remotely update multimedia content across its displays without the security, performance, and deployment headaches of sharing customer wired networks or installing dedicated broadband at each site. After experimenting with cellular data cards, DynaTek still faced poor signal performance, limited remote management, and difficulty securing the signs. Zyxel’s 2WG mobile 3G cellular firewall VPN appliance was identified as the product capable of meeting these needs.
Zyxel, working through Feeney Wireless, provided the 2WG router to create a secure, always-on cellular connection for each signage location. The solution included built-in firewall protection, NAT, and an IPSec VPN back to DynaTek’s servers, enabling remote content updates and centralized management while keeping the signs off the customer’s internal network. The result was a fully wireless deployment that could be installed in less than an hour, reduced downtime and on-site visits, and supported reliable digital signage delivery over 3G cellular networks.
