Connecting a School Where Every Pupil Has a Tablet

Alemannenschule Wutöschingen, a five-building secondary school in Germany, needed reliable campus-wide WiFi for around 600 students and 52 teachers, many of whom used tablets in class. As network demand grew, the existing setup struggled with frequent connection failures, and the school also needed secure, separate access for students, teachers, and guests. Zyxel provided the wireless solution to help meet these requirements.

Zyxel and partner APM Communications deployed a WLAN environment built around a ZyWALL Next-Gen Unified Security Gateway, smart managed switches, and WAC6500 Series access points across indoor and outdoor areas. The upgraded network supported up to 500 simultaneous users, protected traffic with firewall and antivirus security, and was completed in just six days. The result was a stable, secure campus network, and the successful rollout led the municipality to consider further Zyxel-backed projects at other sites.
