Redwood Credit Union (RCU), a top-20 credit union based in Santa Rosa, CA serving about 450,000 members, launched RCU Insurance Services to offer members auto, home and business coverage. RCUIS wanted to link online and mobile auto loan applications to insurance quoting so members could handle banking and insurance in one place, but needed a solution that used loan data to produce fast quotes while complying with California’s opt-in requirements.

RCU partnered with Zywave to integrate the TurboRater API into the loan application flow, enabling a one-click opt-in for instant auto insurance quotes using overlapping loan/quote data. The API was so fast they adjusted its trigger timing, and the resulting increase in quote volume and sales paid for the integration within six months — prompting RCUIS to pursue further API-driven opportunities.
