SHIMS User Partners with Zumasys to Complete Migration

Duff Company, a wholesale plumbing, pump, water softener and multi‑family housing supply distributor, has run the SHIMS ERP since the early 1980s. When the original SHIMS owner began sunsetting development and cutting support—and Duff’s aging server began failing—the company, represented by Controller Scott Kirkland and part of the SHIMS Wholesalers Association (SWA), sought a partner to keep SHIMS operational and avoid a costly platform change. They turned to Zumasys for equipment and expertise to complete the migration.

Zumasys supplied new server hardware, rescheduled work to accelerate Duff’s move, and migrated their environment from AIX to Linux while converting serial printers to networked printers and providing CUPS documentation and ongoing MultiValue support. The result: backups that once took 4–6 hours now run in under 10 minutes, monthly closes dropped from 45–60 minutes to about 5 minutes, and Duff enjoys faster, more responsive support and lower overall disruption—outcomes Duff attributes directly to Zumasys.
