MAN Energy Solutions, a global leader in large-bore diesel engines and turbomachinery based in Augsburg, Germany, supports 12,000 users across 100+ locations in 70 countries. As the company scaled with IoT, cloud deployments (AWS/Azure) and a highly mobile workforce, legacy VPN-based access became a performance, cost and security bottleneck—creating poor user experience, rising appliance and MPLS costs, and an exposed attack surface.

MAN adopted Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) to implement a Zero Trust, “apps-dark” model that removes VPNs and makes applications invisible to unauthorized users. The move delivered seamless cloud-like access, improved performance and visibility (SIEM logging), faster contractor onboarding (hours vs. weeks), and double-digit cost reductions by eliminating VPN infrastructure while substantially reducing the attack surface.
