NEC Corporation, a global group of over 300 companies with about 110,000 employees, needed to shift to a cloud‑centric, multi‑device IT model to support work‑style innovation and DX. The company’s challenge was to replace on‑premises internet gateway infrastructure with a solution that delivered both high performance and stronger security worldwide — including SSL traffic visibility and a unified security policy across domestic and overseas locations — without degrading the user experience.

NEC deployed Zscaler Cloud Security (piloted in late 2017 and rolled out April 2018), using Zscaler’s global cloud, centralized management and SSL inspection to migrate roughly 100,000 users with minimal end‑user impact and extend the same secure policy to overseas sites. The result was a 60–70% reduction in download times, more stable performance at peak periods, improved threat detection and centralized monitoring for international locations, increasing productivity while simplifying operations and scaling to additional global users.
