NOV, a global equipment provider for the oil industry, faced steep IT budget cuts after the 2014 oil-price collapse and found replacing aging security appliances and its legacy MPLS network financially untenable. With 635 locations across 66 countries, the company began migrating to the cloud—adopting Office 365, moving apps to AWS and Azure, and rolling out SD‑WAN with local internet breakouts.

To secure the new direct‑to‑cloud architecture, NOV deployed Zscaler Internet Access and Zscaler Private Access to replace costly appliances and legacy VPNs. The solution delivered centralized, high‑performance security (including SSL/TLS inspection, threat protection and sandboxing), improved mobile workforce productivity, reduced endpoint reimaging, and faster access to Office 365—lowering risk while simplifying administration.
