Trade & Investment Queensland (TIQ) is the Queensland government’s global business agency, with 23 offices and around 180 staff supporting exporters and promoting investment. TIQ’s dispersed operations made centralised IT security difficult: a 2015 audit revealed weaknesses and a crypto‑locker incident underscored the need for stronger defenses and better visibility for senior management.

TIQ replaced individual office firewalls with Zscaler’s cloud security platform, deployed with partner Ordyss, routing all internet traffic through a central service. The change delivered unified monitoring and reporting, real‑time threat alerts, sandboxing of suspicious files, and BYOD protection, while eliminating on‑site appliances—reducing management overheads and giving TIQ greater confidence in security across all locations.
