Mondi, a global packaging and paper group with more than 25,000 employees, faced rising costs and poor user experience from backhauling Internet traffic over MPLS to two centralized gateways. The company was also burdened by a patchwork of hardware proxies, URL filters and many firewall clusters managed by a small IT team, and needed a more scalable, secure way to provide Internet access for roughly 10,000 PC workstations as it decentralized its worldwide network.

Mondi adopted Zscaler’s cloud-delivered security platform to replace management‑intensive appliances and enable secure local Internet breakouts. The move cut MPLS bandwidth needs and costs, simplified administration with cloud updates and real‑time reporting, and improved threat detection via Zscaler’s Cloud Sandbox. Results included standardized security across locations, reduced operational workload, and bandwidth gains of up to 15× at some sites.
