Sandvik Embraces Zero Trust and Empowers 35,000 Users to Work-From-Anywhere with Zscaler Private Access

Sandvik Group, a global industrial engineering firm with about 37,000 employees, found its legacy VPNs increasingly inadequate for secure, productive remote work—an issue that became urgent when COVID‑19 forced a rapid work‑from‑anywhere transformation. With nearly 20,000 concurrent users (including contractors and vendors), Sandvik needed a scalable zero‑trust approach to remove connectivity hurdles and shrink attack surfaces.

Sandvik expanded its partnership with Zscaler, deploying Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) alongside Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) on the Zero Trust Exchange to replace VPNs. The team rolled out ZPA globally in under five days, transitioned ~20,000 employees, cut connector configuration from hours to seconds, improved application segmentation and performance, discovered and protected previously unknown apps, and delivered a significantly better user experience and security posture.
