A Zscaler Case Study
Raiffeisen Bank International, a leading Austrian corporate and investment bank serving millions of clients across 12 markets with 44,000 employees and 18.6 million customers, faced security limitations from legacy appliances and VPNs. Those legacy tools clashed with the bank’s cloud-first strategy, caused latency and poor performance for remote and in-office users, and failed to provide consistent, identity-based access policies—widening the attack surface.
RBI replaced appliances and VPNs with the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange, deploying private and public service edges, enabling direct-to-internet connectivity (no backhauling) and zero-trust access for private apps. The implementation delivered consistent inbound/outbound protection for a hybrid workforce, reduced latency and improved SaaS and app performance, streamlined security architecture, and lowered security costs while improving the user experience.
