A Zscaler Case Study
The New Jersey Judiciary (NJJ)—covering the state Supreme Court, 21 county courts and 535 municipal courts with about 10,000 employees—needed to rapidly secure remote operations and scale virtual courtrooms when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The primary challenge was implementing a work-from-anywhere solution and a security service edge (SSE) zero trust foundation to replace strained VPNs and maintain consistent protections regardless of user location.
NJJ deployed the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange (including ZPA, ZIA and ZDX), enabling 10,000 employees to work securely from anywhere in six days and expanding virtual courtrooms from 40 to 400 in the same period. The zero trust rollout eliminated lateral-movement risk, standardized security policies, improved user experience and IT troubleshooting, and delivered an estimated $10.7 million ROI through reduced technology costs and operational efficiencies.
