Kainos Accelerates Cloud-First Strategy to Secure Global Workforce While Improving Threat Detection and Response

Kainos, a Belfast‑based high‑tech firm of about 3,000 employees, needed to accelerate a cloud‑first transformation to support rapid global expansion, a growing remote workforce, stronger client security/compliance, and sustainability goals while moving away from costly on‑premises VPN and hub‑and‑spoke infrastructure.

They deployed the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange (ZIA, ZPA and Zero Trust Firewall) and integrated it with Microsoft Sentinel and Defender to replace VPN backhaul, enable microsegmentation, and automate SOC workflows. The rollout processed 2.9 billion transactions (199.9 TB) in three months, blocked 289,658 threats and 100.7M policy violations in a quarter (including 198,858 encrypted threats over 90 days), improved detection and remediation, cut hardware and upkeep costs, and supported cloud expansion and sustainability targets.
