Humana Secures Patient and Employee Data with the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange

Humana, a Louisville-based health insurer with more than 95,500 employees, needed a zero‑touch security approach that would support a flexible, remote-first workforce while preserving strong user experience and data protection. The challenge was to secure patient and employee data and replace legacy VPNs as employees increasingly worked from anywhere.

Humana deployed Zscaler’s Zero Trust Exchange—including ZPA, ZIA and the Zero Trust Browser—starting with 10,000 users and plans to expand to the entire company. The solution enables work‑from‑anywhere for about 75% of the workforce, simplifies onboarding through integration with Azure AD, uses cloud browser controls to reduce third‑party authentication risk, and replaces the VPN to improve security and user experience.
