A Zscaler Case Study
National Australia Bank (NAB), one of Australia’s “Big Four” banks with roughly 35,000 employees and more than nine million customers, faced an urgent operational challenge when COVID-19 forced large-scale office evacuations and call volumes spiked three- to fourfold. Legacy VPNs and office-centric systems could not scale quickly enough to enable thousands of staff—particularly call-center employees—to work remotely without risking service disruption or security exposure.
NAB accelerated its cloud security strategy by deploying Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), moving from fewer than 150 ZPA users to over 22,500 in about three weeks. The cloud-based rollout avoided new hardware, preserved a seamless user experience, reduced attack surface and costs, and allowed the bank to maintain customer services and support stimulus programs during the crisis.
