HJF Uses Zscaler™ to Help Military Researchers Battle COVID-19

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a Bethesda‑based nonprofit that supports roughly 1,500 military and government medical research programs. When COVID‑19 forced staff, researchers, and partners to work from home, HJF needed a fast, secure way to provide remote access to critical applications and protect research continuity and supply chains — a traditional VPN or Citrix rollout would have taken weeks and risked major disruption.

HJF leveraged Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and quickly deployed Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), using its existing Zscaler Client Connector to bring about 600 users online in about 48 hours. The rapid rollout delivered seamless work‑from‑home access, cut support calls from the hundreds to about 15 per day, maintained security without extra endpoint churn, preserved critical research supply chains, and repositioned IT as a strategic business enabler.
