GROWMARK, a Bloomington, Illinois–based agricultural supply cooperative with 500+ locations across 40 US states and Ontario, faced a sudden need to support a largely remote and hybrid workforce operating from rural sites with spotty internet. The company needed to accelerate a cloud‑first, zero trust strategy to provide secure, reliable access to hundreds of applications on AWS and on‑premises, replace legacy VPNs, reduce public‑facing interfaces, and tie access to identity and MFA without disrupting business continuity during the pandemic.

GROWMARK partnered with Zscaler and AWS, deploying Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) on the Zero Trust Exchange to centralize visibility, perform SSL decryption at scale, and provide resilient, identity‑based access via Zscaler Client Connector and App Connectors. The rollout moved 98% of employees to zero trust remote access, reduced the attack surface and administrative burden, improved end‑user experience on AWS, and processed 1.8 billion transactions—while users reported the solution was simple, fast, and transparent.
