ECS European Containers is an intermodal logistics operator based in Zeebrugge, Belgium, handling container transport across the UK, Ireland and continental Europe. Their legacy on‑premises security gateway was reaching its limits: it lacked SSL inspection, left employees with unrestricted outbound access, failed to stop modern malware, and was costly and difficult to maintain.

ECS deployed Zscaler’s cloud‑based Internet Security Platform (with Uptime Group as implementation partner), gaining full SSL inspection, real‑time threat reporting and granular URL controls with daily quotas to curb productivity and bandwidth loss. The rollout blocked inbound and outbound threats, eliminated streaming‑related performance issues (avoiding an internet upgrade), reduced infrastructure and maintenance costs, and enabled secure, fast local internet access at branch offices.
