Beneva, a top-10 Canadian insurer formed from the merger of La Capitale and SSQ with about 5,000 employees and 3.5M members, faced a patchwork of three web-filtering solutions that created inconsistent protection, VPN congestion and management overhead—problems magnified by widespread remote work and heavy Microsoft 365 usage. The company needed to unify its internet security posture, offload internet/SaaS traffic from VPNs, and provide consistent protection for users regardless of location.

Beneva adopted Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler’s CASB as part of the Zero Trust Exchange, rolling it out progressively and integrating with Azure AD. The cloud-based solution delivered standardized security across both group companies, stronger protection for remote workers, deeper visibility with detailed logs, faster access to business-critical apps, reduced WAN congestion, and a straightforward, low-effort deployment.
