Banco Regional de Monterrey (BanRegio) is a leading Monterrey-based bank founded in 1994 with 100 branches and about 2,000 users, serving retail, SMEs, leasing, factoring, consumer finance and private banking. Rapid branch expansion created high bandwidth and operational costs from backhauling traffic to a central proxy and maintaining a large pre-approved URL list, and the bank lacked a network-based anti‑virus solution.

BanRegio moved to Zscaler’s cloud-based web security to avoid expensive appliances and eliminate backhauling, which reduced infrastructure complexity and delivered significant bandwidth savings and lower latency via local data centers in Mexico. The service added real-time malware detection, dynamic URL categorization for flexible web access, enhanced visibility and reporting, and data loss prevention—resulting in lower costs, better IT utilization and improved protection against advanced threats.
