OBI drives online sales by assisting shoppers like a trusted friend

OBI, Germany’s leading DIY retailer with over 650 stores and an online assortment of more than 100,000 products, faced a big challenge: customers were overwhelmed by choice and often abandoned purchases. To bring the trusted, in-store advisory experience online, OBI partnered with Zoovu and its AI-powered conversational marketing platform to deliver intelligent digital assistants and project planners across the website and in selected in-store kiosks.

Zoovu implemented more than 20 tailored digital assistants that guide customers through product selection, project planning and budgeting, and automatically surface relevant bundles and materials. The result: about 30% of visitors to product category overview pages use a digital assistant, customers can research online then complete purchases in store, and OBI benefits from continuous optimization and improved conversion thanks to Zoovu’s data-driven insights.
