Zoom Enables Bright Heart Health to Provide Virtual Treatment for Those Battling Eating Disorders

Bright Heart Health is a San Ramon–based telemedicine provider and the first Joint Commission–accredited eating disorder program in the U.S., offering intensive outpatient treatment for anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating. It faced barriers common to this specialty: a nationwide shortage of certified eating disorder experts, the need for flexible scheduling (especially for working parents), and the requirement that care feel intimate and continuous despite being remote.

Bright Heart adopted Zoom Meetings for its HIPAA-compliant, easy-to-use, and affordable platform that supports group therapy and video recording for clinical review. Using Zoom, Bright Heart delivers a 10-week program with about 11 hours per week of virtual therapy (including 9 hours of group work), improving patient engagement, scheduling flexibility, and access to experienced clinicians—and has partnered with Stanford to study outcomes.
