Preview of the National Kidney Foundation Case Study

With Just 2 Weeks’ Notice, National Kidney Foundation Moves Spring Clinical Meetings to Virtual with Zoom

The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) faced a crisis when COVID-19 threatened its Spring Clinical Meetings—an annual conference that provides continuing education and networking for over 3,000 kidney care professionals and serves as a major fundraiser. With dialysis patients at high risk and travel unsafe, NKF had to decide quickly to preserve vital education credits, research presentations, and sponsorship commitments.

In just two weeks NKF moved the entire program to Zoom Webinars, issuing webinar licenses, unique panelist links, and run-throughs, and using polling, recordings, and admin controls to maintain engagement, learning requirements, and security. The virtual conference drew 3,583 attendees (an 11% increase), featured 130 sessions and 338 presenters, improved exhibitor reach and on-demand recording access, earned overwhelmingly positive feedback, and positioned NKF to consider hybrid events in the future.
