Western Iowa Tech Community College Connects Campuses With Zoom Rooms and Phone

Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC), a 6,000‑student institution serving five campuses in Iowa, needed to expand access to courses for a diverse student body and keep faculty and staff communicating effectively—challenges that became urgent when the COVID‑19 pandemic forced everyone off campus.

WITCC deployed Zoom Meetings, Zoom Rooms, and Zoom Phone to create virtual classrooms, connect campuses, and replace desk‑based telephony with a flexible softphone and intuitive admin tools. The rollout kept classes running without interruption, gave employees mobility and better accessibility (including voicemail transcription that enabled a deaf staffer to support the help desk), reduced hardware dependency, and simplified teaching through integrations like shared digital whiteboards and Canvas.
