A Zoom Video Communications Case Study
Tokyo Denki University (TDU), a long-established science and engineering university in Tokyo and Saitama, needed to modernize classroom presentation and campus communications. Existing conferencing systems were room-bound and unreliable, and the university wanted a BYOD-first, cloud-integrated infrastructure—needs that became urgent when the Covid-19 pandemic forced classes and events online.
TDU deployed Zoom Meetings and Zoom Video Webinars campus-wide, linking accounts to university authentication for low administrative overhead and easy roll‑out. After training sessions for students and staff, TDU launched remote and hybrid classes, ran 6,000–7,000 weekly meetings, used recordings for archiving, and moved ceremonies and events online; next steps include Zoom Rooms and deeper attendance-system integration.
