The Higher Colleges of Technology Expands Its Horizons With Zoom’s Flexible Solution

The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), founded in 1988 and the UAE’s largest higher-education provider with 20,000 students across 17 campuses, faced a communications challenge after a 2013 faculty restructuring created department-level deans spanning multiple colleges. With staff and students widely dispersed—and travel costly and time-consuming—HCT needed a reliable, face-to-face online meeting solution that would also support remote teaching and cross-campus coordination.

HCT deployed Zoom across all 17 campuses, using Zoom Meeting Connector to host meetings on local servers and issuing faculty guidelines to optimize meetings. Zoom now supports faculty meetings, remote teaching, recruitment and international outreach (e.g., Kenya), delivering ease of use, high-quality audio/video and multi-device access; last month HCT logged 935 meetings, 4,618 participants and about 191,000 minutes, resulting in reduced travel, greater student flexibility, new course opportunities and stronger cross-campus collaboration.
