Rocky Mountain PBS Swaps Legacy On-Premise Hardware for Modern Cloud Experience in Zoom Phone

Rocky Mountain PBS, Colorado’s public television network founded in 1956 with stations statewide, was relying on an aging on‑premises phone system that required heavy capital and hands‑on management. Slow vendor support and a proliferation of unused numbers left IT stretched and the organization seeking a more reliable, cost‑effective way to connect dispersed teams.

RMPBS moved to Zoom Phone and adopted Zoom Meetings and Chat, shifting to a cloud‑based unified communications platform that reduced on‑site infrastructure and simplified administration. The deployment cut active phone numbers from more than 400 to about 150, enabled roughly 85% of staff to use softphones, improved collaboration during major projects and the headquarters move, and set the stage for future Zoom Rooms integration.
