A Zoom Video Communications Case Study
The University of Notre Dame needed a way to continue teaching and collaboration during the COVID-19 disruption and then support socially distanced, hybrid learning when students returned to campus. It worked with Zoom Video Communications, using Zoom alongside Panopto to create connected learning spaces and support remote instruction across up to 150 classrooms.
Zoom Video Communications helped Notre Dame build a “classroom as an ecosystem” with cameras, microphones, and automated lecture capture that was easy for faculty to use. The result was a more seamless and equitable experience for teachers and students, with recordings automatically uploaded to Panopto and made available through the LMS for playback and review. Students benefited from being able to revisit lectures, and Zoom also enabled virtual guest speakers and performances, including weekly participation from author Ted Chiang and a virtual one-man show by Reginald Dwayne Betts.
