Case Study: Frontera Energy achieves reliable, unified communications and simplified IT with Zoom Video Communications

A Zoom Video Communications Case Study

Preview of the Frontera Energy Case Study

How Frontera Energy Solved a Pressing Communications Challenge with Zoom Phone & Bring Your Own Carrier

Frontera Energy is a Toronto‑headquartered oil and gas company operating in Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador that is focused on ethical, sustainable production. After a 2017 restructuring, the IT team discovered a fragmented, legacy communications stack—traditional landlines and multiple conferencing tools tied to local PSTN providers—which caused poor call quality and unreliable links to remote oil fields and hampered companywide collaboration.

Frontera adopted Zoom Meetings and Zoom Phone with a Bring Your Own Carrier (BYOC) approach, linking Zoom Phone to Colombia Telefonica’s PSTN to work around regional infrastructure limits. The solution was quick to deploy (about two and a half weeks), improved call quality for field crews, simplified the technology stack, reduced on‑premises management, and delivered a more reliable, unified communications platform for the organization.
