A Zoom Video Communications Case Study
Baylis Medical, a Mississauga-based leader in cardiology device development and clinical training founded in 1986, faced unreliable, fragmented conferencing tools and problematic room hardware just as it needed to standardize communications and shift to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recurring audio/video issues, multiple platforms (Skype for Business, Webex, etc.), and a desire for a hardware-free solution made it difficult to run meetings, trainings, and vendor calls smoothly.
Baylis implemented Zoom’s unified communications suite — Zoom Phone, Meetings, Chat, and Webinars — rolling out a full deployment (about 500 users) over a weekend, including phone system routing and an automated attendant. The change delivered a seamless, consistent user experience, enabled a frictionless transition to remote work, kept productivity and clinical training going via webinars, and set the stage for further innovations like digital signage, voice commands, and improved onboarding.
