A Zoom Video Communications Case Study
The Fischler School of Education at Nova Southeastern University — which houses the largest speech‑language pathology program in the U.S. with over 800 master’s students placed across the country — faced a major logistical challenge: accreditation-required clinical site visits for each student meant frequent, costly travel and difficult scheduling for faculty and alumni interviewers. In-person visits to urban and remote communities created significant time, expense, and stress for staff.
The school adopted Zoom for virtual site visits, leveraging its easy setup and reliable audio/video to replace most travel. The shift cut travel expenses and time on the road, reduced staff stress, simplified scheduling, and quickly led faculty to use Zoom for office hours, recruiting, training and larger-group interactions as a complementary teaching tool.
