Extreme Networks Synchronizes Zoom and Skype for Business to Power their Global Communications

Extreme Networks, a Silicon Valley–based global networking company with nearly 4,000 employees and offices worldwide, needed a supplemental video solution because Skype for Business could not consistently support international meetings, lacked Mac support for ~30% of users, and didn’t scale well with external partners. They required a platform that would improve reliability without disrupting existing Microsoft integrations.

After a successful pilot, Zoom was implemented companywide to run alongside Skype for Business, interoperating with Outlook and Extreme’s H.323/SIP room systems. Every employee has a Zoom Pro account, Zoom handles most collaborative and high‑visibility meetings (two‑thirds of collaborative minutes), and the company now logs roughly two million Zoom minutes per month while continuing to use Skype for one‑on‑one calls.
