Newport City Council launches UK’s first multilingual LocalGov Drupal platform in 5 months with Zoocha
Newport City Council needed to transform its outdated digital systems to better serve its local community with a bilingual website and improve content management for its internal team. The council partnered with vendor Zoocha, who utilized the LocalGov Drupal platform to address these challenges.
Zoocha implemented a multilingual LocalGov Drupal solution, extending it to support both Welsh and English content with automated translation and manual review. This approach, along with a collaborative design process and a staggered release, allowed the new platform to launch in just five months. As a result, Newport City Council became the first UK local authority with a multilingual LocalGov Drupal site, achieving a centralized and user-focused content management system. Zoocha continues to work with the council on further improvements.
