Police department raises situational awareness

Zones, Inc. helped coastal community, a city of about 315,000 residents and millions of annual visitors, address an aging and underperforming video surveillance environment. The city’s police department needed to update and optimize its surveillance system, which had been moved to Cisco Video Surveillance Manager (VSOM) but was not meeting expectations and was at risk of being removed.

Zones, Inc. redesigned the deployment on Cisco UCS with Cisco video surveillance cameras and encoder cards, resolved network issues, and enabled shared, role-based access across city departments. The result was greater situational awareness, improved incident detection and response, better use of the existing MSP platform for archiving, and safer streets and neighborhoods—with the system designed to scale from 450 cameras toward 2,000 and eventually about 5,000 cameras.
