Smart City Finalist City of Denver Department of Public Works Drives Smart Fleets with Zonar

The City of Denver Department of Public Works Fleet Management Division — a 180‑person team responsible for maintaining more than 1,900 vehicles and pieces of equipment — needed to modernize its operations to support the city’s smart‑city goals. The department sought GPS-enabled, verified inspection reporting, a way to cut excessive idling, and a replacement for error‑prone paper and two‑way‑radio communications to improve safety, uptime and accountability.

Denver deployed Zonar’s telematics (V3 GPS plus Zonar 2010 and 2020 tablets with EVIR and ZForms) to provide real‑time location, verified electronic inspections and forms‑based messaging.
